The Australian Government’s response to the Disability Royal Commission
We worked with the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) to create an Easy Read outline of the Australian Government’s response to the Disability Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (the Disability Royal Commission).
We also edited 12 fact sheets explaining different parts of their response in more detail. Additionally, we converted a document outlining the joint response from Australian, state and territory governments about recommendations they will work on together.
There were 14 documents in total, so our focus was on internal coordination and maintaining consistency across the suite of documents. We also worked hard to simplify the complex language of the recommendations without excluding important information about each one.
It was a privilege to continue contributing accessible communications about the Disability Royal Commission for the community, especially this crucial step.
You can find Easy Read versions of these documents on the DSS website.
