Easy Read National Disability Strategy Fact Sheet
In 2010, governments at every level around Australia committed to a national approach to supporting people with disability take part as equal citizens in our community. This was the first time such a unified approach had been taken to improving the lives of people with disability, their families and carers. This commitment was called the National Disability Strategy 2010–2020.
With the strategy and its associated policies due to expire in 2020, the Australian Government is beginning a community consultation period to shape policy for the next 10 years. An open public survey, face-to-face community workshops in all states and territories, and an online forum will be taking place as part of the consultation process.
We had the privilege of creating an Easy Read fact sheet about the National Disability Strategy and the community consultation. It explains what the Australian Government wants to know and how people can have their say. You can read it on the Department of Social Services website.
