Australian Government Department of Human Services – website accessibility audit

The Department of Human Services, Community Engagement Division required an independent review on the conformance of the new Human Services website (including Centrelink) against the mandatory accessibility standards: WCAG 2.0, Level AA. This work is part of the Website Reform Project, a series of inter-related activities aimed at improving how the department communicates. Importantly, this project will focus on readability, design and interactivity, and writing style and standards. The website accessibility testing supports this process and will ensure that the new website design is launched in mid-2017. We provided manual and machine level accessibility testing, as well as recruiting and managing users with disability to take part in the process. Our report was very well received by the client, who appreciated our succinct and clear descriptions of the problems and fixes required.
