Final Report for the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence
We edited the report on the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence (RCCOL). As part of the process, we helped develop the Royal Commission's style guide and report structure. Hundreds of end notes were edited to adhere to the style guide and the Australian Guide to Legal Citation (AGLC).
The Royal Commission was an ongoing inquiry, so editorial work took place at short notice when new content became available. This required flexible and responsive work schedules. Confidentiality and file security was vital due to the commercial consequences of the inquiry’s findings and recommendations.
The report includes many difficult concepts and technical language related to gambling and casino regulation. We advised the Royal Commission about:
-
what words should be included in the glossary
-
how the document could be simplified.
With recommendations that address issues like independent oversight, surveillance, data collection, information sharing and money laundering, this Royal Commission has significant social and commercial implications for the Victorian community. We take our editorial work and our commmitment to clear communication very seriously and were honoured to be involved in such an important project.
The report can be found on the Royal Commission website.
