We recruited a range of models, several with intellectual disability and many from diverse backgrounds, to take part. With the diverse range of models we were able to capture images that accurately reflect the diversity of Australians in our community. We also got some great images of the whole group that reflect the amazing spirit of community and collaboration that was generated on the day.

A huge thank you to the young people from The Bridge Works and The Bridge Connects that were not only wonderful models, but brought a really positive attitude and energy to the studio on the day. Our image collection has been radically improved through their involvement.

After getting so much value from, and use of, the images we collected during our previous photo shoot in 2015, we decided it was time to update our Easy Read image collection.

Our photographer, Steph Britton

In early March we had the privilege of working with Steph Britton from Pose Headshots on our second photoshoot at the amazing studio she works from in Knoxfield. Steph’s previous experience photographing people with intellectual disability shone through on the day and she did an outstanding job making all the models feel at ease.

Steph had this to say about her experience working with us:

The team at Information Access Group made the Easy-Read Photo Shoot go off without a hitch. The day was one of laughter and jokes, kindly offered by our spectacular models. Everyone followed instruction so well and if they were tired they didn't show it, everyone brought their vibrant energy to the shoot. Big thanks to Brendon for pulling out his jokes and helping everyone relax into the shoot. Everyone worked so hard and it shows. Thanks to you all we ended up with a mountain of great images to use.

We were able to take advantage of the fully-equipped indoor studio and the expansive grounds surrounding the studio, which provided an authentic Australian backdrop for a series of exterior images.

Our new Easy Read images

We now have an extensive new collection of people in the Easy Read poses we use the most in our documents, as well as new combinations and pairings of people representing carers and supporters.

We’re absolutely thrilled with the results of our photo shoot and extremely excited about sharing these new images with clients in future Easy Read projects.
